BULLEID MEMORIAL STONE AT WINKLEIGH

 

Memorial Stone in the

Lady Chapel of All Saints Church, Winkleigh, Devon, England

In Memory of George Bulleid of Stabdon (1740-1813) and Family

(The stone is located on the floor between the left hand end of the altar and the wall.

It is laid upside down to the viewing position and, in places, has been damaged.)

TRANSCRIPTION

Sacred to the memory of

George Bulleid of this Parish, Yeoman, and Ann his Wife, the former of whom was buried in this Church Yard on the 19th day of April 1813 Aged 71 years and the latter was buried here on the 25th day of August 1823 Aged 70 years ALSO to the memory of Grace the wife of Joseph Hunt South Molton and daughter of George and Ann Bulleid aforesaid who was also buried here on the 25th day of April 1816 Aged 26 years ALSO to the memory of Samuel Bulleid of Stabdon in this Parish, Yeoman, son of the said George and Ann Bulleid, who departed this life on the 1st day of March 1839 Aged 66 years, who was a just and upright man in his life, and in his death generally and sincerely lamented.

The sweet remembrance of the Just

Shall flourish when he sleeps in dust.
