GWR MAIN LINE TIMETABLES FOR JULY 1881 - BRISTOL TO EXETER

In 1881, trains still ran on broad gauge track - the Great Western Railway introduced standard gauge in 1892. Connections are shown at Bristol and Exeter.

Timetables were made available to the public through publication in local newspapers. Sunday running (shown underneath) was limited to two trains each way on the main line. Many branch lines in Devon had no Sunday service for many years.
