9354 Corporal Harry Ball of the 1st/5th Battalion, the Devonshire Regiment.  Son of William and Emma Ball; brother of Thomas (see below)  Born in Dittisham in 1895. Died 30 July 1918 aged 23.

240291 Private (John) Thomas Ball of the 1st/5th Battalion, the Devonshire Regiment. Son of William and Emma Ball;  brother of Harry (see above) . Born in Dartmouth in 1894. Died 30 September 1918 aged 24.

17074 Private William Henry Blakemore of the 11th Battalion, the Devonshire Regiment. Son of Henry and Mary Ann Blakemore. Born in Ashprington in 1888. Died 15 April 1916 aged 28.

107642 Gunner (William) Henry Bow of the Royal Garrison Artillery.  Son of William and Emma Bow. Born in Harberton in 1877. Died 19 May 1917 aged 40.

18341 Private Frederick Bowden of the 8th Battalion, the Devonshire Regiment.  Son of Thomas and Mary Bowden. Born in Cornworthy in 1890. Died 1 July 1916 aged 26.

183710 Sapper William Charles Burgoyne of the 90th Field Coy, the Royal Engineers. Son of William and Sarah Burgoyne; husband of Nell Burgoyne. Born in Ashprington in 1877. Died 23 March 1918 aged 41.
F. HALL
Believed to be 266411 Private Frederick Hall of the 2nd/6th Battalion, the Devonshire Regiment. Son of the late Elizabeth Hall and Henry Hall (lost at sea). Born in Dartmouth in 1882, became an orphan and was brought up, together with his brother Harry, at the Seamen's Orphanage in Brixham. Died 22 September 1916 aged 22.

203833 Private Ernest Francis Hutchings of the 1st/4th Battalion, the Wiltshire Regiment; formerly240285 of the Devonshire Regiment. Son of William and Mary Ann Hutchings; brother of Thomas (see below) Born in Ashprington in 1897. Died 19 September 1918 aged 21.

G/24561 Private Stephen Life of the 7th Battalion, the Queen's Own Regiment, formerly 3358 of the Somerset Light Infantry. Son of William and Susanna Life. Born in Harbertonford in the June Quarter of 1896. Died 3rd May 1917 aged 21.

240604 Corporal Henry ("Harry") Main of the 5th Battalion, the Devonshire Regiment. Son of Thomas and Mary Ann Main. Born in Ashprington in 1880. Died 13 September 1918 aged 38.
H.PETERS
171186 Private Herbert Peters of the 19th Battalion, the Canadian Light Infantry. Son of the Bessie Peters and the late John Peters of Ashprington; husband of Florence Peters of Toronto; brother of William (see  below). Born in Ashprington in 1891. Died 16 September 1916 aged 25.
W. J. PETERS

Lieutenant William John Peters of the 1st Battalion, the Devonshire Regiment. Son of John and Bessie Peters (née Kingdon). Born in Ashprington in the September Quarter of 1884. Died 23 April 1917 aged 33. Awarded the Military Cross for gallantry and devotion to duty.

Also appears on the Chulmleigh Memorial where he was at some time Drill Instructor of the Territorials.
