From the official accident report: "Pilot, John Barber, took off at 18.02 hours in Halifax MkIII JD121 KN-O from Elvington. Yorkshire for a raid on the city of Kassel, in Germany. The aircraft crashed at Tiestelsen, 9 kilometres south east of Brakel - the cause of loss not being established. The entire crew were lost. "Theirs was one of 45 aircraft which failed to return from this operation." |
