This man has been very hard to trace due to transfers but we believe him to be

33718 William Rowson Barlow of the 6th battalion, the Yorks and Lancs Light infantry who transferred to the Black Watch aka as the Royal Highlanders. Son of Thomas and Margaret Barlow. Born in Seaforth, Lancs in 1889. Died 20 November 1918 aged 29. His father and mother are believed to have come to live in Ilfracombe.

F.CUTCLIFFE

We found no trace of a Frank Cutcliffe but the North Devon Journal records the death in July 1917 of a William Cutcliffe who came from Combe Martin.

R/702 Able Seaman William Henry Cutcliffe of the RNVR, Hood Battalion. Son of Martha Cutcliffe. Born in Combe Martin in 1898. Died 5 July 1917 aged 19.    He enlisted in the Army Reserve in May 1916; was included in the draft for the British Expeditionary Force in May 1917 then enrolled in Hood Battalion and served with them from May to July 1917 when he was discharged dead.
