Lieutenant-Colonel Erskine Magniac, commanding officer of the 27th Punjab Regiment. Son of Major General Francis Magniac and his wife Edith of Coombe Cottage, Abbotsham; brother of Meredith (below). Born in Hitchin in 1883. Died 28 April 1917 aged 34. Mentioned in Dispatches.

Mate Edward Morrison of the Mercantile Marine, the sailing vessel  "W.M.L" (Bideford). Son of Josephine Kelly (formerly Morrison); husband of Annie Morrison of Honestone Street, Bideford. Born in Sydney, Australia in 1889. Died 30 June 1918 aged 29. Drowned, as a result of an attack by an enemy submarine. Commemorated on the Australian War Memorial.

6482 Private George Mountjoy of the 2nd Battlion, the Welsh regiment. Son of Mary Mountjoy of Westleigh  and the late William Mountjoy; husband of Ethel Hedges, formerly Mountjoy. Born in East Leigh in 1882. Died 6 April 1915 aged 33.

355598 Private William Darlington Mountjoy of the 25th Battalion, the Royal Weslsh Fusiliers; formerly 207 the Welsh Horse. Son of Charles and Ellen Mountjoy of Bridgeland Street, Bideford. Born in Bideford in the June Quarter of 1881. Died 30 November 1917 aged 36.

38089 Private William Newcombe of the 58th Field Ambulance, the Royal Army Medical Corps. Son of James and the late Mrs. Newcombe of Duban, South Africa; husband of Hilda Newcombe of Clifton Street, Bideford.  Born in Bideford in 1890. Died 14 April 1918 aged 28.

70005 Private Ralph Redvers Osborn(e) of the 5th Battalion, the Devonshire Regiment. Son of Beatrice Osborne of Queen Street, Bideford and the late James Osborne. Born in Bideford in 1900. Died 12 September 1918 aged 18.
