28193 Private Walter Balman of the Devonshire Regiment; formerly 2807 of the Royal North Devon Hussars, transferred to the 2nd Battalion, the Hampshire Regiment. Son of Walter and Florence Balman. Born in Barnstaple in 1897. Died 18 April 1918 aged 21.
W.BEER
RMA 10417 Gunner William Beer of the Royal Marines Artillery, serving on HMS Lion. Son of PC Beer and his wife of Bishops Tawton. Died 31 May 1916 at the Battle of Jutland aged 32.
G.BROUGHTON
16623 Private George Boughton of the 8th Battalion , the Royal Fusiliers. Son of the late Frederick and Bessie Boughton. Born in Clovelly in 1893 but lived in Ugborough. Died 2 March 1916 aged 23.
B.G.DAVIE
Lt-Colonel Bertie George Davie of the 8th Battalion, the London Regiment.  Son of George Davie of the Elms, Bishops Tawton. Born in Bishops Tawton in 1874. Died 24 December 1917 after a long illness aged 43.

32640 Private William Herbert Salisbury Gollop of the 2nd Battalion, the Hampshire Regiment. Son of Joseph and Alice Gollop. Born in Southampton in the March Quarter of 1889. Died 23 April 1915 aged 32.

PLY 11957 Private Walter Goodenough of the Royal Marines, Plymouth Battalion, the RN Division. Son of John and Martha Goodenough  of Pullery Cottage, Bishops Tawton. Born in Landcross in 1883. Died 4 March 1915 aged 32.

16661 Private Samuel Arthur Gregory of the 9th Battalion , the Devonshire Regiment. Son of Thomas and Mary Gregory. Born in Appledore 15 March 1895. Died 6 September 1916 aged 21.
W.H.HARRIS
27677 Private William Henry Harris of the 14th Battalion, the Gloucestershire Regiment; transferred as 113798 to the Prisoner of War Coy of the Labour Corps. Son of Catherine Harris of Barnstaple. Born in Gloucester in 1882. Died of Septic Poisoning aged 37 on 3 June 1919 in France,  two years after being wounded.
G.HOULE
249487 Gunner George Thomas Houle of the Royal Field Artillery. Grandson of John and Amelia Houle of Fisherton Farm, Bishops Tawton. Born in Alverdiscott in 1894. Died 3 May 1918 after a brief illness aged 24. Buried in Bishops Tawton churchyard.

9696 Sergeant William James Ridd of the 2nd Battalion, the Devonshire Regiment. Nephew of Arthur and Eliza Ridd. Born in Newport, Barnstaple in 1891. Died 27 May 1918 aged 27.

231157 Sapper Arthur Steer of the 6th Coy, the Royal Engineers. Son of George and Mary Steer. Born in the March Quarter of 1885. Died 17 March 1917 of a spinal complaint following an attack of measles, age 31.
A.TAYLOR
205184 Private Arthur Taylor of the 8th Battalion, the Devonshire Regiment. Son of George and Ellen Taylor of Bishops Tawton. Born in that place in 1892. Died 4 October 1917 aged 25.
R.H.TOLLEY
2871 Private Robert Henry Edwin Tolley of the 2nd/6th Battalion, the Devonshire Regiment. Son of PC Tolley of Bishops Tawton.  Died 26 Novemeber 1916 aged 23.
S.A.WONNACOTT
32720 Private Stanley Albert Wonnacott of the 5th Battalion, the Ox and Bucks Light Infantry. Son of the late Thomas and Mary Wonnacott. Born in Bideford in the September Quarter of 1893. Died 22 December 1917 aged 24.
