G.R.DENTON
11401 Private George Reginald Denton of the 9th Battalion, the Devonshire Regiment.  Son of George and Sarah Denton. Born in London in 1891. Died 6 September 1916 aged 25.
F.C.G. FRENCH
4/8903 Private  Frederick Charles G. French of the 2nd Battalion, the Durham Light Infantry. Son of Florence and the late James French. Born in Bovey Tracey in the June Quarter of 1896. Died 3 March 1916 aged 20.
K.T.FROST

Lieut. Kingdon Tregose Frost of the 1st Battalion, the Cheshire Regiment, formerly of the Special Reserve.  Son of Denis and Sophia Frost. Born in Launceston on 12 March 1877. Died 25 August 1914 aged 37.

Lt. Frost was originally buried by the Germans as an UNKNOWN OFFICER in a grave marked only by a wooden cross.  But someone called Alan Gregson has spent years trying to prove that  this was Frost's grave and after much hard work, has finally convinced the CWGC to make a new grave marked with his name and other details. His family created a memorial to him at the church of St Peter, Paul and Thomas in Bovey Tracey 100 years ago. Gregson's research has shown that the Germans said of him: that he "fought like a demon, having refused to surrender". He is buried in the cemetery in Wiheries.

J.R.GILLEY
20710 Corporal John Reginald Gilley of the Coldstream Guard. Son of John and Lavinia Gilley. Born in Bovey Tracey in the March Quarter of 1892. Died 27 September 1918 aged 26.
J.E.GREY-SMITH

Lt-Commander John Essex Grey-Smith of the Royal Navy, HMS Cambrian. Son of W. B. Grey-Smith of Melbourne, AU. Born in St. Kilda, AU, 10 May 1887. Died 17 March 1917 in an accident on board his ship aged 30.

He was knocked off his feet by a wave while supervising damage repair and washed overboard. The wash of the wave brought his body back onto the deck  but he had lost consciousness rapidly and drowned in that brief period. Attempts were made to revive him without success.

25943 Private Samuel John Hawkes of the 2nd Battalion, the Devonshire Regiment. Husband of Amelia Hawkes. Born in Ilsington in the March Quarter of 1884.  Died 29 October 1916 aged 32.

20504 Private James Heath of the 7th Battalion , the Devonshire Regiment. Son of Francis and Emma Heath; brother of Thomas (see below) Born in Bovey Tracey in the June Quarter of 1890. Died 5 December 1915 aged 25.

240150 Sergeant Thomas Henry Heath of the 1st/5th Battalion, the Devonshire Regiment. Son of Francis and Emma Heath; brother of James (see above). Born in Bovey Tracey in 1893. Died 20 July 1918 aged 25.
J.E.HINE
7/2563 Private James Ernest Hine of the 1st/5th Battalion, the Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry. Son of James Ernest Hine. Born in Bovey Tracey in the June Quarter of 1899. Died 24 September 1918 aged 19.

25945 Private Arthur James Hull of the 10th battalion, the Devonshire Regiment. ( Named as Arthur Hall on some War Office records.) Husband of Clara Hull. Born in Taunton in 1888. Died 24 April 1917 aged 29.

178377 Able Seaman Ernest Hyssett of the Royal Navy, HMS Vivid.  Son of William Hyssett. Born in Chudleigh Knighton 4 October 1878. Died of illness 16 August 1915 aged 37. Buried in Bovey Tracey Cemetery.

K17321 Stoker 1st Class Percy Nicholas V. Kendall of the Royal Navy, HMS Indefatigable. Husband of Clara (née Mitchell) of Castle Hill, Axminster. Born in December 1889 in Bristol. Died 31 May 1916 aged 26.

225372 Private Frederick Lake of the 1st/20th Battalion, the London Regiment. Son of Frederick and Charlottte Lake. Born in Bovey 18 March 1897.  Died 9 September 1918 aged 21.

GS 10303 Trooper Frederick Richard Lamacraft of the 16th Lancers. Son of S. Lamacraft of Bovey Tracey. Born in Bideford in 1897. Died 6 September 1915 aged 18, at home.
A.B.LARKIN
72116 Private Alfred Basil Larkin of the 1st Devonshire Yeomanry. Son of E.J and S. E. Larkin of Bridge Cottages, Bovey Tracey. Born in Bovey in 1899, but lived in Exeter. Died 29 April 1916 aged 19.
