The Rev. John Loveband Francis was Rector of Bridestowe for some years at the turn of the 20th century. He and his wife Laura had five daughters - Laura, Emily, Edith, Florence and Blanche. In 1913, the youngest daughter, Blanche, married Charles Keith Denny, then aged 25 and an articled accountant.
In 1921, Charles and Blanche, together with their two young sons John (known as "Jock") and Timothy, left England for Tasmania and founded a vast lavender farm in Tasmania which they named after Blanche's former home. To read more, go to
