PANEL 1 -COLUMN 3 - THE ROYAL NAVY

D/K 67107 Petty Officer Stoker William Henry Nicholls of the Royal Navy, HMS Ardent. Son of Alfred Nicholls of Welland Stone, Worcs. Died 8 June 1940 aged 38 when his ship was sunk while attempting to defend HMS Glorious from German battleships.

Able Seaman William Samuel Norrish of the Royal Navy, HMS Neptune. Son of Samuel and Louisa Norrish. Born in Devonport in the September Quarter of 1919. Died 19 December 1941 aged 22

Fireman Samuel John Ronald Piper  of the Naval Auxiliary Personnel (Merchant Navy) HMS Saucy: Husband of Ermyntrude Piper of Goodrington. Died 4 September 1940 aged 26.
R. F. PUTT
DK/X Stoker Richard Frederick Putt of the Royal Navy HMS Basilisk. Son of Harry and Ellen Putt of Brixham. Born in 1918. Died 1 June 1940 aged 22.
W. PYM
D/KX 25649 Stoker 2nd Class William Henry Pym of the Royal Navy, HMS Penelope. Son of William and Blanch Pym; husband of Dorothy Pym of Newport, Mon. Born in Brixham in the December Quarter of 1911. Died 18 February 1944 aged 32.
J. S. PROCTOR
LT/JX 183714 Seaman John Alfred Proctor of the Royal Navy Patrol Service, HM Drifter Jewel, hired as a minesweeper. Died 18 May 1941. Sunk by a mine in Belfast Lough. Commemorated on Panel five of  the Lowestoft War Memorial and believed to have been born in that place.

1040662 3rd Engineer Edward William Pulham of fhe Royal Navy Patrol Service. HM Tug Saucy. Son of Edward and Jane Pulham. Born in Ipswich in 1898 in the September Quarter of 1898. Died 4 September 1940 aged 42.
H. W. RAYMONT
Acting Sub-Lieutenant Harry William Raymont of the Royal Naval Reserve, HMS Rawalpindi Son of William and Hilda Raymont of Brixham. Died 23 November 1939 aged 22.
D. RICHARDS
Acting Lieutenant David Richards of the Royal Naval Voluntary Reserve, HMS Martial. Son of Morgan and Mary Ann Richards. Died of illness 17 September 1942 aged 30.
H. R. RICHARDS
Lieutenant Harold Roy Richards of the  Royal Naval Voluntary Reserve serving on HM LCT 390, in use as a tank landing craft of the 4th Flotilla. Son of Harold and Agnes Richards. Died 8 June 1944 aged 35 when his ship was attacked by E-boats during the D-Day landings.

D/JX Leading Seaman Clarence Edgar Roberts of the Royal Navy, HMS Punjabi. Son of Thomas Roberts. Born in Tavistock in the December Quarter of 1917. Died 1 May 1942 aged 25.
W. P. SALISBURY
Joiner 2nd Class William P Salisbury of the Royal Navy, HMS Repulse. Son of Percy and Bessie Salisbury; husband of Edith Salisbury of Torquay. Born in the March Quarter of 1912. Died 10 December 1941 aged 25. 
W. J. SCILLEY
Chief Engine Room Artificer William James  Scilley of the Royal Navy, HMS Galatea. Son of Henry and Mary Scilley; husband of Sophia Scilley. Born in Brixham in the September Quarter of 1890. Died 14 December 1941 aged 51.
J. A. SEAWARD
Fireman John Alfred Seaward  of the Naval Auxiliary Personnel (Merchant Navy) HM Tug Saucy:  Son of John and Ellen Seaward. Died 4 September 1940 aged 35.
W. J. SHEARS
D/M 8075 Shipwright 1st Class William John Shears of the Royal Navy, HMS Courageous. Son of John and Elizabeth Shears; husband of Beatrice Shears of Brixham. Died 17 September 1939 aged 47.
R. E. G. STAMP
Ralph Edwin George Stamp  of the  Royal Naval Patrol Service. HM Tug Saucy. Son of Ralph and Mary Stamp. Born in Brixham in the March Quarter of 1917. Died 4 September 1940 aged 23.
B. W. TERRELL
D/235051 Leading Seaman Bernard Weeks Terrell of the Royal Navy, HMS Forfar. Son of Albert and Polly; husband of Matilda Terrell of Brixham.. Born in Brixham in the June Quarter of 1922. Died 2 December 1940 aged 52.
A. M. TUCKER
LT/KX 125015 Stoker Alec Martin Tucker of the Royal Navy Patrol Service, HM Trawler Dorinda. Son of Martyn and Effie Tucker; husband of Florence Tucker of Brixham. Born in Brixham in the December Quarter of 1920. Died 6 July 1942 aged 29 due to an accident. Buried in St mary's churchyard.
D. URQUHART

D/MX 738220 Leading Writer Donald Urquhart of the Royal Navy, HMS Mayina*. Son of Donald and Ethel Urquhart of Brixham. Died of illness  26 May 1946 aged 18.

*HMS Mayina was a joint forces transit camp five miles from Colombo, Ceylon.

R. WAKEHAM
D/J 293185 Able Seaman Robert Edward Wakeham of the Royal Navy, HMS Drake. Husband of Olive Wakeham of Brixham. Stepson of Edmund George Wakeham and his wife Susan. Died 20 September 1947 aged 44. Buried in St Mary's churchyard.

238578 Ordinary Seaman Derek Westcott of the Rescue Tug, Caroline Moller. Son of Mr and Mrs C. Westcott of Brixham.. Born in 1920. Died 7 October 1842 aged 22 when his ship was lost.

D/MX 60514 Engine Artificer 3rd Class Albert Henry Wills of the Royal Navy, HMS Charybdis. Husband of Lily Wills (née James). Born in Brixham in 1913.  Died 23 October 1943 aged 30. 
L.THOMPSON
D/SSX 29370 Able Seaman Leonard Thompson of the Royal Navy, HMS Gloucester. Son of Mr and Mrs J. C. Thompson of Brixham. Born in Brixham in the September Quarter of 1922. Died 22 May 1941 aged 18.
