BRIXTON AND THE 1569 MUSTER ROLL

The Protestation Return for Brixton is lost so we have included these  names from the 1569 Muster Roll. This list was made some 80 years before the Protestation which dates from the winter of 1641/42. This is not a complete list of all men in Brixton - it is a list of all who were able-bodied and capable of fighting in the army and dates from the time when the monarch did not keep a standing army but sent for men and weapons as they were needed
