2nd Lieutenant Maurice Charles Thornton Bate of the 2nd/9th Battalion, Queen Victoria's Rifles. Son of Charles and Catherine Bate. Baptised 15 July 1898, in Hanham, Gloucestershire. Died 13 August 1917 aged 19.
