John Tuke's death left his widow Harriet, then aged 66, with a small annuity to live on but it seems it was necessary for his daughter Harriet to continue to run what she termed her " Young Ladies' School". Let us hope she had some day pupils in addition to the four girls shown as boarders in the 1871 census.
