This man worked his way from garden boy to Head Gardener to Lord Leith of Fievie, Aberdeenshire at Lupton Gardens in Churston. For reasons best known to himself, Alexander signed up for service spelling his surname in the Scottish way (Massie) and giving Fievie as his place of birth. Consequently he has been hard to find!
