THE HABELL-BODIED MEN OF CLYST ST GEORGE IN 1569

If the King required their services, these men had to drop everything and muster immediately under the leadership of the leading nobleman of the area. They had to provide their own weapon to fight with, as listed,  out of their own pockets - a form of taxation.   The Presenters were responsible to the King for getting the Muster right.   Clyst St George's Presenters were Roger Mathewe,John Gibbe and Richard Runte.
