F. GALE
44197 Private Fred Gale of 8th Battalion, the Devonshire Regiment. Son of the late Thomas Gale and  Emily Gale (née Hookway) of 17 Bowden Hill, Crediton. Born in Crediton in the September Quarter of 1897. Died 4 October 1917 aged 20.
A. GALLIN
10620 Private Arthur Fursdon Gallin of "B" Coy, 8th Battalion, the Devonshire Regiment. Son of William H and Susan Gallin of Sturridge, Sandford, Crediton. Born in Sandford in the June Quarter of 1891. Died 25 September 1915 aged 24.
G. GERMAN
245728 Private George German of 448 Agricultural Company, the Labour Corps. Husband of Jane German of Posbury, Crediton. Born in Crediton in 1868. Discharged 5 December 1918 as physically unfit with severe bronchitis and died in Crediton in the December Quarter of 1919.
S. GILLMAN
PLY/16094 Private Sydney Alexander Gillman (registered as Alexander Sydney ) of the Royal Marine Light Infantry, HMS Goliath. Son of Alexander and Ellen Gillman of 67 East Street, Crediton; brother of Edward and Richard (see below). Born in Exeter in the September Quarter of 1896.. Died 13 May 1915 aged 18.
E. GILLMAN
14865 Private Edward William Devin of the 7th Battalion, the Somerset Light Infantry. Son of Alexander and Ellen Gillman of 67 East Street, Crediton; brother of Sydney (see above) and Richard (see below).  Born in Exeter in the June Quarter of 1895. Died 16 September 1916 aged 21.

28635 Private Richard Charles Gillman of the 7th Battalion, the King's Shropshire Light Infantry. Son of Alexander and Ellen Gillman of 67 East Street, Crediton; brother of  Sydney and Edward (see above).  Born in Exeter in the March Quarter of 1900. Died 13 March 1919 aged 19.
S. GLOVER
42666 Private Stanley George (registered as George Stanley) Glover of the 9th Battalion, the Devonshire Regiment. Son of Frederick William and Mary Glover of Lower Woodland Head, Crediton. Born in Devonport in the December Quarter of 1897. Died 8 May 1917 aged 19.
A. GODDARD
R4/108986 Private Arthur Goddard of the Royal Army Service Corps. Son of Thomas and Eunice Goddard of Oadby, Leics.; husband of Annie Bennett (formerly Goddard) of 13 Stoughton Road, Oadby. Born in Oadby in the March Quarter of 1876. Died 1 June 1917 aged 41. Buried in Oadby Cemetery. He worked at Coombe, Colebrooke as a farm servant.

66116 Private Walter John Grant of the 80th Field Ambulance, the Royal Army Medical Corps. Husband of Bessie C. Grant of 1 Underhill  Place, Crediton. Born in Bristol in the September Quarter of 1879. Died 13 October 1918 aged 40.
B. GRIBBLE
163352 Gunner Bartholomew Chapple Gribble of the 31st Siege Battery, the Royal Garrison Artillery. Son of George and Elizabeth Gribble of High Street, Crediton; husband of Olive V. Gribble of High Street, Combe Martin. Born in Crediton in the June Quarter of 1877. Died 10 March 1918 aged 40.
G. GRIBBLE
89193 Private George Lawrence Gribble of the 20th Static Hospital, the Royal Army Medical Corps. Son of George and Laura Gribble of Rose Cottage, Threshers, Crediton. Born in Tavistock in the June Quarter of 1899. Died at Gallipoli 28 December 1918 aged 19.
W. GUSH
205072 Private William Gush of the 8th Battalion, the Devonshire Regiment. Son of Samuel and Charlotte Gush of Seaton House (Shop), Exminster; husband of Mary Thomas Dymond (formerly Gush) of 63 High Street, Crediton. . Born in Exminster in the March Quarter of 1883. Died 4 October 1917 aged 34.
W. HALLETT
4872 Sergeant Walter John Hallett of the 1st Battalion, the Coldstream Guards. Son of John James and Elizabeth Hallett. Born in Gittisham, nr. Honiton, in the March Quarter of 1887; worked  in Crediton as a railway porter. Died 14 September 1914 aged 27. 
F. HARRY
M2/191945 Private Francis ("Frank") Harry of  the 18th Corps Heavy Artillery, the Army Service Corps. Son of  William and Elizabeth Harry, of Tavistock; husband of Winnifred Harry, of 18, Brook St., Tavistock. Born in Tavistock in the December Quarter of 1884; believed to have lived in Crediton. Died 5 August 1917 aged 32
W. HATCH
This man is believed to be Private William Hatch of the 44th Battalion, the New Brunswick Regiment of the Canadian Infantry. Son of John and Mary Hatch of Woodland Head, Crediton. Born in Inwardleigh 24 August 1881. Died 28 October 1917 aged 36. 
J. HAWKER
51670  Private Joseph George Hawker of the 16th Battalion, the Royal Fusiliers. Son of Thomas and Annie Hawker of Part Street, Crediton. Born in Chard in the September Quarter of 1882. Died 14 October 1918 aged 36.
F. HELLIER
Tom Venn  believed this should have read "John Hellier"who he described as being in the Army Supply Corps.. Not yet confirmed
R. HENDERSON
Midshipman (Acting Sub-Lieutenant) Richard Henderson of the Royal Navy, HMS Invincible. Son of Wallace Carter and Edith Henderson of Palace Lodge, Crediton. Born in Northampton in 1897. Died 31 May 1916 at the Battle of Jutland aged 19. 
R. HILL
2nd Lieutenant Reginald Percy Hill of "A" Battery. 72nd Army Brigade, the Royal Field Artillery. Son of William and Anna Hill, of 2, East Avenue, Polsloe Rd., Exeter. Born in Chagford in the December Quarter of 1897.  Died 25 August 1918 aged 19. His connection with Crediton is not yet known.
F. HOOPER
200636 Private Frederick William Hooper of the 1st/4th Battalion, the Devonshire Regiment. Born in Crediton in the September Quarter of 1891. Died in India  22 October 1918 aged 27.
G. HOOPER
55773 Private George Arthur Hooper of the 11th Battalion, the Devonshire Regiment Infantry Labour Corps. Son of William Hooper who had a grocery business in Crediton's High Street; husband of May Isabel H. Hooper, of Seacroft, Budleigh Salterton, Devon.. Born in Exmouth in 1878. Died 13 April 1917 aged 39.
W. IRELAND
265401 Private William Ireland of the 1st/6th Battalion, the Devonshire Regiment. Grandson of Daniel and Ann Williams. Born in Crediton in 1896.  Died in Mesopotamia 1 August 1917 aged 22.
