S. JEFFRIES
No trace has been discovered of a man of this name. Tom Venn believed it to be an error and that it should have commemorated Stephen Ralph Jeffery of the Royal Army Medical Corps who was killed on the battlefield 1 August 1917 while tending the wounded.
C. JOHNS
108165 Sapper Charles Johns of the 124th Field Coy, the Royal Engineers. Son of Robert and Elizabeth Johns of Paradise, Crediton. Born in Crediton in the September Quarter of 1889. Died 10 July 1917 aged 27.
L. KEEN
9131 Private Louis (aka Lewis) Albert Keen of the 2nd Battalion, the Devonshire Regiment. Son of Humphrey and Mary Ann Keen of 18 Dean Street, Crediton. Born in Crediton in the March Quarter of 1892. Died 1 July 1917 aged 24.
J. LAND
7799 Sergeant Jacob Land of the 9th Battalion, the Devonshire Regiment. Son of George and Mary Ann Land of Knowle Hamlet;; husband of Ellen Land of Copplestone. Born in Tiverton in the June Quarter of 1887. Died 26 October 1917 aged 30.
T. LANE

76772 Private Thomas Lane of the Royal Army Medical Corps.  Son of Eliza Lane and the late Robert Lane of 49 Park Street, Crediton; husband of Rhoda Ann Lane of 1 Caroline Cottage, Stonehouse - they had 4 children. Believed to have been born in Exminster in 1874. Brought back from Salonika to Netley Military Hospital where he died 11 March 1919 aged 45. Buried in Ford Park Cemetery, Plymouth.

30839 Private Arthur Charles Lang of the 10th Battalion, the South Wales Borderers. Died 14 November 1918. 
W. LEACH
G/81136 Private William Leach of the 17th Battalion, the Royal Fusiliers, formerly of the Worcestershire Regiment. Son of Francis and Louisa Leach. Born in Sandford in 1897. Died 4 December 1917 aged 20. Came to live and work in Crediton.
C. LEE
PO/18489 Private Charles Lee of the Royal Marine Light Infantry, HMS Malaya. Died in the Battle of Jutland 31 May 1916.
B. LONG
1086 Lance Corporal Bertie John Long of the 1st/6th Battalion, the Devonshire Regiment. Son of Charles and Emma Long. Born in Crediton in the December Quarter of 1890. Died in Mesopotamia 8 March 1916 aged 25.
F. LOOSEMORE
26262 Private Frank Howard Loosemore of the 9th Battalion, the Devonshire Regiment. Son of the late William and Sarah Loosemore; husband of Mary E. Loosemore (née Stephenson) of Fosterly, County Durham. Born in Crediton in the June Quarter of 1883. Died 26 October 1917 aged 34.
