Petty Officer Stoker D/KX81960 John Ivor Gordon, HMS Furious, Royal Navy.  He died on the 29th April 1942 aged 29, and is buried at Cornwood St Michael Churchyard, Devon.  Son of John Elisha and Elizabeth Simmons Gordon; husband of Doris Joan Gordon of Cornwood, Devon.

Engine Room Artificer 4th Class D/MX50379 Bernard Richard Green, HMS Glorious, Royal Navy.  He died on the 8th June 1940 aged 22, and is commemorated on the Plymouth Naval Memorial.  Son of Charles and Winifred Green of Dartmouth.

Trooper 14409041 Sydney Percival Hearnah, 24th Lancers, Royal Armoured Corps.  Note incorrect middle initial.  He died on the 8th June 1944 aged 35, and is commemorated on the Bayeux memorial, France.  Son of Percival J. and Blanche Hearnah; husband of Phyllis Ada Ann Hearnah of Thornton Heath, Surrey.

 Aircraftman 1st Class 645105 Bertram Frank Marshall Holt, Royal Air Force.  He died on the 14th August 1940, and is buried at St Clement Churchyard, Townstall, Dartmouth.

 HOLDEN. E. G.   R.M.

 Boy 1st Class D/JX194781 Edgar George Holden, HMS Neptune, Royal Navy.  Note that he is incorrectly listed on the memorial as serving with the Royal Marines.  He died on the 19th December 1941 aged 17, and is commemorated on the Plymouth Naval Memorial.  Son of Lionel Edgar Holden and stepson of Kathleen Alice Holden of Dartmouth.

 Marine CH/20125 John Hoskins, Royal Marines.  He died on the 1st June 1944 aged 46, and is buried at Chatham Cemetery, Kent.  He served as ‘Newman’.  Son of Maud Hoskin; husband of Alice Hoskin of Chatham, Kent.

HUMPHREYS. J.   WELCH.

 Private 3958742 James Humphreys, Welch Regiment, attached to No. 1 Commando.  He died on the 28th February 1943 aged 28, and is commemorated on the Medjez-el-Bab Memorial, Tunisia.  Husband of Dorothy M. Humphreys of Dartmouth.

HYNE. C. G.   R.A.

 Gunner 5615198 Claude George Hyne, 3 Light Anti Aircraft Regiment, Royal Artillery.  He died on the 5th March 1943 aged 33, and is commemorated on the Singapore Memorial.  Son of James and Sarah Hyne of Dartmouth

Gunner 5615731 Claude Pearce Jolley, 99 (Royal Buckinghamshire Yeomanry) Field Regiment, Royal Artillery.  He died on the 22nd May 1940 aged 28, and is buried at Outtersteene Communal Cemetery Extension, Bailleul, France.  Son of Frederick and Mary Maud Jolley of Dartmouth.

Boy 1st Class D/JX163314 Albert Jolley, HMS Gloucester, Royal Navy.  Note that he is incorrectly listed on the memorial as serving with the Royal Marines.  He died on the 22nd May 1941 aged 17, and is commemorated on the Plymouth Naval Memorial.  Son of Frederick and Mary Maud Jolley of Dartmouth.

 Serjeant 5613668 Frederick George Kellond, 2nd Battalion, Devonshire Regiment.  He died on the 9th July 1940, and is buried at Pembroke Military Cemetery, Malta.

 KITT. E. K.   R.N.

Assistant Steward Edwin Kenneth John Kitt, Cable Ship Alert (United Kingdom), Merchant Navy.  Note that he is incorrectly listed on the memorial as serving with the Royal Navy.  He died on the 24th February 1945 aged 17, and is commemorated on the Tower Hill Memorial, London.  Son of John and M. K. Kitt of Dartmouth.

 Serjeant S/54283 Henry Matthew Lacy, Royal Army Service Corps, attached to HQ II Corps.  He died on the 29th May 1940 aged 32, and is commemorated on the Dunkirk Memorial, France.  Son of Henry Matthew and Lily Lacy; husband of Gladys Lilian Lacy of Salisbury.

 Chief Officer Kenneth John Lewis, SS Marcella (London), Merchant Navy.  He died on the 13th March 1943 aged 34, and is commemorated on the Tower Hill Memorial, London.

 LOBB. J. A.   M.N.

 Boatswain James Andrew Lobb, MV Somersetshire (Liverpool), Merchant Navy.  He died on the 4th February 1943 aged 35, and is buried at Alexandria (Chatby) British Protestant Cemetery, Egypt.  Son of William Edward and Andrea Jacobine Lobb; husband of Millicent Florence Lobb of Dartmouth.

 Lance Corporal 14664958 Maurice Charles Lock, 3rd Royal Tank Regiment.  He died on the 25th September 1944 aged 29, and is buried at Oploo (St Anthonis) Roman Catholic Churchyard, The Netherlands.  Son of Arthur George and Elsie A. Lock; husband of Una Jessmee Lock of Dartmouth.

 MacANDREW. V. W.   R.N.V.R.

 Lieutenant Vernon William MacAndrew, HM Yacht Campeador V, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve.  He died on the 22nd June 1940 aged 59 when the Campeador hit a German mine off the Isle of Wight and sank with the loss all but two of the ship’s crew.  He is commemorated on the Portsmouth Naval Memorial.  Son of George James and Flora Valentina MacAndrew; husband of Mary MacAndrew of Churston Ferrers, Devon.

 Warrant Officer Class II (CSM) 5617185 William Thomas Mashford, 12th (Airborne) Battalion, Devonshire Regiment.  He died on the 24th March 1945 aged 32, and is buried at Reichswald Forest War Cemetery, Germany.

MARLEY. W. G.   R.N.

 Leading Stoker D/K66461 William George Henry Marley, HMS Jaguar, Royal Navy.  He died on the 26th March 1942 aged 36, and is commemorated on the Plymouth Naval Memorial.  Son of J. W. and May Grace Marley; husband of Marion Weir Douglas Lamond Marley of Glasgow.

 MAUNDER. F. C.   R.A.F. V.R.

 Sergeant (Flight Engineer) 1851647 Frederick George Maunder, 514 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve.  He died on the 2nd February 1945 aged 19, and is buried at Durnbach War Cemetery, Germany.  Son of Henry and D. Maunder of Dartmouth.

 Lance Corporal 5618691 Donald Neil McCall, Devonshire Regiment.  He died on the 9th May 1942 aged 22, and is buried at Madras St Mary’s Cemetery, Chennai, India.  Son of Hugh John and Mary Grace McCall of Townstal, Dartmouth.

 Fusilier 14991818 Gordon Morris, 4th Battalion, Royal Welch Fusiliers.  He died on the 5th March 1945 aged 21, and is buried at Reichswald Forest Cemetery, Germany.

Petty Officer D/JX133364 Frederick Lloyd George Miller, HMS Ardent, Royal Navy.  He died on the 8th June 1940 aged 27, and is commemorated on the Plymouth Naval Memorial.  Son of William Henry and Hetty Millman of Dartmouth.

Stoker 1st Class D/KX92387 William Frederick Newland, HMS Glorious, Royal Navy.  He died on the 8th June 1940, and is buried at Torshavn Cemetery, Faroe Islands.

 Ordinary Telegraphist D/JX153616 Sidney Andrew Newland, HMS Neptune, Royal Navy.  He died on the 24th January 1940, and is buried at Freetown King Tom Cemetery, Sierra Leone.

 PASSMORE. G. W.   R.M.

 Marine PLY/X871 George William Henry Passmore, HMS Prince of Wales, Royal Marines.  He died on the 16th February 1942 aged 30, and is commemorated on the Plymouth Naval Memorial.  Son of George and Caroline Passmore; husband of Ella M. Passmore of Dartmouth.

 PALMER. F. P.   DEVONS.

 Private 5612172 Francis Percy Palmer, 7th Battalion, Devonshire Regiment.  He died on the 2nd July 1940 aged 35, and is buried at St. Mura’s Church of Ireland Churchyard, Upper Fahan, Ireland.  Son of George Alfred and Mary Ann Palmer; husband of Doris Palmer of Plympton.
