In 2003, the villagers of Denbury* were given a Lottery Grant for the following project involving the ancient water cistern which is such a vital part of the village water supply.
"The project is to restore and interpret an ancient cistern which is a prominent feature in the centre of the village. The history of the feature is also being researched and its structure is being documented."
