CAMBRIDGE LOCAL EXAMINATION RESULTS PUBLISHED 14 SEPTEMBER 1928
At BARNSTAPLE GIRLS' GRAMMAR SCHOOL, the following candidates were successful - the names of unsuccessful candidates were not made known.
To gain a full certificate, candidates had to pass five or more subjects including Maths and English. However if they failed Maths and English, all subjects had to be re-taken. Repeat examinations were held in the following January each year.
In each subject, there were three levels of success - Pass, Credit and Very Good. Students gaining Credit level or higher in at least five subjects were granted exemption from Matriculation, meaning that they could by-pass a University's own admission examination.
