(HMS Nomad, launched on 7th February 1916, was an Admiralty M class destroyer.)
There is no better account of the final moments of HMS Nomad than that given by its Captain, Paul Whitfield, in a letter written home from his bed in a German Naval Hospital on 8 June 1916. Badly injured, rescued from the sea and taken prisoner by the Germans, he seems to have been treated humanely by his captors.
