*A privately-owned merchant ship, Turino was torpedoed and sunk by U 43 on 4 February 1917 en route from Virginia to Liverpool with a loss of four lives.

3198 Driver Harold Marks of the 3rd Battalion, the 4th brigade, the Royal Field Artillery; transferred to the 132nd Coy, the Labour Corps.  Son of John and Maria marks of West Down Farm, Littleham. Born in Broadhembury in 1893. Died 26 November 1918 aged 25.

67157 Private William James Marks of the 1st/5th Battalion,  the Devonshire Regiment. Son of Alfred and Ann of Charles Street, Exmouth. Born in Exmouth in 1896. Died 20 July 1918 aged 22.
S. A. MARTIN
48626 Lance Coporal Sidney Albert Martin of the 5th Battalion, the Royal berkshire regiment; formerly 40618 the Somerset Light Infantry.  Son of Sidney and Polly martin. Born in Exmouth in 1900. Died 26 August 1918 aged 18.
W. H. MARTIN
It is thought that this man may have served in the Devonshire Battery (T) of the Royal Garrison Artillery who did not go abroad but remained in the UK and played a  part in the so-called "invasion zone". So little information has been found about him that he must be classed as "Not yet confirmed".

Sub-Lieutenant George Sydenham McReddie of the RNR serving on HMS Anchusa. Son of Dr Percy McReddie and his wife Frances of Claremont Terrace, Exmouth. Born i Exmouth in the March Quarter of 1896. Died 16 July 1918 aged 22.

Lieutenant William Reginald francis Miller of the 10th Battalion, the Devonshire Regiment. Son of Hubert and Amy Miller of the Beacon, Exmouth., Born in Wellingborough in the March Quarter of 1897.Died between 24 and 25 of April 1917 aged 20.

R/19908 Rifleman Walter John Mitchell of the 16th Battalion, the King's Royal Rifle Corps. Son of Eliza and the late Samuel Mitchell. Born in Exeter in the June Quarter of 1888. Died 5 November 1916 aged 28

Lieut.-Col. Frank George Greir Morris of the 1st Battalion, the Border regiment; attached to the 16th Battalion of the Middlesex Regiment. Son of Maj,-Gen. Robert Morris and his wife Sarah; husband of Mabel Morris.  Born in 1869. Died 16 August 1917 aged 48.
