1914 - 1918

R.J.MARKER
Lt-Col., Assistant Adjutant and Quarter Master General of the Coldstream Guards at Army Corps HQ. Son of Richard Marker and his wife Victoria; husband of Beatrice Marker of Combe. Born in Upper Cerne, Dorset, 15 July 1867. Died 13 November 1914 aged 47. 
S.CARNELL
53191 Private Samuel Carnell of the 20th Battalion, the London Regiment; formerly S/4/158668 of the RASC. Born in Gittisham in 1888. Died 17 April 1917 aged 29.
G.DREW
203140 Private George Drew of the 9th Battalion, the Devonshire Regiment. Son of George and Sarah Drew. Born in Whitstone in 1885 but lived in Gittisham. Died 8 October 1917 aged 32.
W.GRAY
152838 Gunner William Gray of the Royal Garrison Artillery. Son of Edward and Mary Ann Gray. Born in 1889 in Ottery St. Mary but lived in Gittisham. Wounded in the abdomen and discharged to his home where he died 31 October 1918 aged 29.

5620238 Private Robert Stanley Clark of the 8th Battalion, the Devonshire Regiment. Son of Margaret Clarke and stepson of John Clark of Gittisham. Born  in 1918. Died 1 October 1939 aged 21. Buried in Gittisham churchyard.
A.J.CROCKER
967969 Corporal Arthur J. Crocker of the RAF VR serving in HMS Phoenix. Son of Arthur and Ina Crocker of Exeter. Born in Exeter in the March Quarter of 1922. Died 8 August 1943 aged 21.
A.J.HEATH
14330699 Private Arthur James Heath of the 1st Battalion, the Hampshire Regiment. Son of Frederick and Nellie Heath of Gittisham. Born in Honiton in the September Quarter of 1924. Died 21 June 1944 aged 19. Buried in Gittisham Churchyard.
E.G.MARKER
101048 Pilot Officer Eric Gerald Marker of the RAF VR, 201 Squadron. Son of Edward and Margaret Marker of Combe House, Gittisham. Born in Gittisham in the March Quarter of 1922. Died 3 December 1941 aged 20.
