27832 Private Arthur Beer of the 6th Battalion , the Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry.  Son of Thomas and Bessie Beer of the Anchor Inn. Born in 1893. Died 15 April 1917 aged 24.

Private Emmanuel Beer of the 65th Battalion, the Candian Expeditionary Force. Son of Charles and Ann Beer. Born in Hartland in the March Quarter of 1896. Died 27 October 1915 of meningitis aged 19.

Major Humphrey St Leger Stucley of the 1st Battalion, the King's Coy. of the Grenadier Guards. Son of Sir George and Lady Louisa Stucley. Born in Exbury, Hants 7 June 1877 but lived in Bideford. Died 29 October 1914 aged 37.

Engineering Commander William Dennis Chope of the RN Reserve. Became the Admiralty Overseer for the Royal Navy. Son of Thomas and Elizabeth Chope; husband of Mary Chope. Born in hartland 24 June 1864. Died 18 February 1916 aged 51 in London. Buried in St Nectan's Church
