J.58860 Able Seaman Walter Lewis of the Royal Navy HMS Valiant. Son of Sydney and Mary Lewis, of Burford Cottages, Hockworthy.  Born in Holcombe Rogus 9 November 1897. Died 25 November 1916 aged 19. Buried in the Naval Cemetery on the Island of Hoy.

8741 Private Walter Burston of the 2nd Battalion, the Devonshire Regiment. Son of Walter and Elizabeth Burston. Born in Stogumber, Somerset in 1890. Died 18 December 1914 aged 25.
F.THOMAS
7897 Private Frederick Thomas of the 2nd Battalion, the Devonshire Regiment. Husband of Norah Thomas of West Exe, Tiverton, Born in Tiverton in 1888, Died 3 December 1917 aged 29.
W.H.COCKRAM
20929 Private William Henry Cockram of the 9th Battalion, the Devonshire Regiment. Son of Frederick and Alice Cockram. Born in Oakford in 1897. Died 2 July 1916 aged 19. Also commemorated on the Ilfracombe War memorial.
F.J.COCKRAM
23098 Private Frederick John Cockram of the 10th Battalion the Royal Berkshire Regiment; transferred as 245375 to the Labour Corps. Son of Frederick and Alice Cockram; brother of William (see above). Born in East Anstey in 1895. Died 14 November 1918 aged 23. Buried in Efford Cemetery, Plymouth.

36655 Gunner Percy Prescott of the 206th Siege Battery of the Royal Garrison Artillery. Son of William and Lucy Prescott of Huntsham, Bampton. Born in Hockworthy in 1895. Died 25 July 1917 aged 23.

SO/1407 Private Alexander George Mewett of the 12th Battalion, the Royal Sussex Regiment. Son of Alfred and the late Emily Mewett. Born in Willingdon, Sussex in 1891. Died 30 June 1916 aged 25.
W.MEWETT
1120 Corporal Walter Mewett of the Military Police Corps. Son of Alfred Mewett and the late Emily Mewett. ; husband of Florence Mewett of Southampton. Born in Brighton in 1882. Died 22 July 1916 aged 34.
G.NORTHAM
11309 Lance Corporal Gilbert George Northam of the 2nd Battalion, the Gloucestershire Regiment.  Son of William and Isabella Northam. Born in Upottery in 1894. Died 6 July 1915 aged 21.
A.J.TROAKE
27507 Private Albert John Troake of the 10th Battalion, the Devonshire Regiment. Son of John and Mary Troake; husband of Elizabeth Troake of Wiveliscombe. Born  in Hockworthy in 1882. Died 25 April 1917 aged 35.
