We are grateful to an anonymous 1980 Buckfast Pilgrim for this lovely shot, having not been able to reach the church via the usual access point on our visit.

29014 Private Edward Henry Pike of the 1st Battalion, the Grenadier Guards. Son of Mrs Faith Pike and the late Charles Pike of High Street, Kenton. Born in Mamhead in the June Quarter of 1898.  Died 2 February 1918 aged 20.
W.H.STEVENS
10816 Private William Henry Stevens of the 8th Battalion, the Devonshire Regiment. Son of Harry and Sarah Stevens of Hill Head; husband of the late Elizabeth Stevens. Born in Mamhead in 1893. Died 25 September 1915 aged 25.
R.WHITE
543 Trooper Richard White of the Household Battalion, the Life Guards. Son of Richard and Amy White; husband of Ellen White of Barnstaple. Born in Devon in 1889. Died 12 October 1917 aged 28.
A.BLACKMORE
7685 Private Andrew Blackmore of the 3rd Battalion the Devonshire Regiment; transferred as 359764 to 1032 Area Employment Coy, of the  Labour Corps. Son of Joseph and Mary Jane Blackmore of Ashcombe. Born in Ashcombe in 1886. Died 21 November 1918 aged 32.

3600 Private  Henry James Gates of the 1st/4th Battalion, the Grenadier Guards. Son of James and Frances Gates of Snow's Cottage, Mamhead. Born in Bramshott, Hants in 1886. Died 3 February 1917 aged 31.

66398 Private (William) Archibald Incledon of the 101st Field Ambulance, the Royal Army Medical Corps. Son of Richard and Mary Jane Incledon of Braunton. Born in the March Quarter of 1897 in Braunton. Died 4 November 1916 aged 19.
