28196 Private Sydney James Andrews of the 1st Battalion, the Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry. Son of Frederick and Annie Andrews (née Stoneman). Born in Morchard Bishop in 1890. Died 28 June 1918 aged 27.

30273 Private Ernest John Ashmore of the 2nd Battalion, the Devonshire Regiment. Son of John and Mary Ashmore (née Conibear). Born in Morchard Bishop in 1895. Died 13 April 1918 aged 23.
BUCKINGHAM, C
30473 Lance Sergeant Cyril Cyrus Buckingham of the 8th Battalion, the Devonshire Regiment. Son of Byron and Martha Buckingham (née Thorne) of Broadgate, Morchard Bishop. Born in Cardiff in the September Quarter of 1893. Died 27 October 1918 aged 25. 
CANN, A
15405 Private Albert Cann of the 8th Battalion, the Devonshire regiment. Son of Mrs. Ellen Drew of Collis Park, Morchard Bishop (née Cann). Born in Crediton in the June Quarter of 1896. Died 9 May 1917 aged 21.

T/364455 Driver Edward John Conibeer of the Army Service Corps, Mechanical Transport Division, attached to the 1st Reinforcement Training Camp. Son of Thomas and Sarah Ann Coneybeer (née Pack) (Thomas was a saddler with a shop on the Green); husband of Annie Stentiford. Born in Marylebone, London in 1886. Died 2 November 1918 aged 32.

3/7248 Private Alfred Chudley of the 2nd Battalion, the Devonshire Regiment. Son of John and Mary Chudley (née Born) ( both born in Thelbridge) husband of Ann ("Annie") Stentiford. Born in Morchard in the March Quarter of 1881. Died 18 December 1914 aged 33.

40551 Private Frederick Charles Drew of the 11th Battalion, the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, formerly 26403 Private Drew of the Somerset Light Infantry.. Son of Robert Drew and Alice Maria Southcott; grandson of William and Jane Drew (née Wreford). Born in Morchard Bishop August 5th 1892. Died 16 Aug 1917 aged 25.

45656 Private John Burgoyne Ellicott of the 8th Battalion, the Devonshire Regiment. Son of William John and Sarah Ann Ellicott (née Burgoyne) of Cobley, Lapford. Born in St. Marychurch in the March Quarter of 1894. Died 10 May 1917 aged 23.

30525 Private Charles Ford of the 1st Battalion, the Devonshire Regiment. Son of George and Jane Ford (née Chanter) who had a shop on the Green. Born in Morchard Bishop in the March Quarter of 1894. Died 23 April 1917 aged 23.

204603 Private Edmund Ford of the 15th Battalion, the Hampshire Regiment. Son of Edmund and Agnes Ford (née Tonkins). Born in Morchard Bishop in the March Quarter of 1880. Died 20 September 1917 aged 38.
GAY, A
7671 Lance Corporal ("Archie") Archibald John Gay of the 8th Battalion the Devonshire Regiment. Son of John and Mary Ann Gay (née Tor). Born in Kingskerswell in the September Quarter of 1885. Died 26 October 1917 aged 32

24683 Gunner Peter Hammett of the 15th Siege Battery, the Royal Garrison Artillery. Believed to have been the son of Peter and Maria Hammett, born in East Worlington in 1882. Died 25 September 1917 aged 34. 
HORWILL, W
A/202644 Rifleman William Henry Horwill of the 12th Battalion, the King's Royal Rifle Corps. Son of William Horwill. Birth date unknown currently. Died 21 March 1918. 
LEACH, F
10672 Private Frank Leach of the 8th Battalion, the Devonshire Regiment. Parents not yet identified. Born in Lapford in the March Quarter of 1896. Died 20 July 1916 aged 20.
ROBERTS, W
7907 Sergeant William James Roberts of the 1st Battalion, the Coldstream Guards. Son of Mark and Ellen Roberts of Farthing Park, Morchard Bishop. Born in Thelbridge in the September Quarter of 1889. Died 25 October 1914 aged 25.

25139 Private Reginald Smith of the Duke of Wellington's (West Riding) Regiment. Son of Thomas and Maria Jane Smith (née Snell); brother of Thomas (see below). Born in Morchard Bishop in the June Quarter of 1897. Died 10 September 1918 aged 21. Military Medal gazetted 12 March 1918.

Wireless Operator William Harold Southcott of the Mercantile Marine, SS Northfield. Son of William and Emma Southcott (née Dicker) of Fore Street, Morchard Bishop. Born in Morchard Bishop in the June Quarter of 1901. Died 3 March 1918 aged 16.
SOWDEN, T
18955 Sergeant Thomas Sowden, "B" Battery, 101st Brigade, the Royal Field Artillery. Believed to be the son of James and Jane Sowden who was born in Rose Ash in the March Quarter of 1874. Died 26 February 1917 aged 43.
STENTIFORD, F
15494 Private Frank Stentiford of the 2nd Battalion, the Devonshire Regiment. Son of James and Lucy Stentiford (née Andrews) of Fore Street, Morchard Bishop; husband of Florence (née Harris) of 8 Stanbury Place, High Street, Crediton. Born in Morchard Bishop in the March Quarter of 1889. Died 10 August 1917 aged 27.

33771 Private Herbert Francis Tucker of the 7th Battalion, the Bedfordshire Regiment. Son of Frank and Elizabeth Tucker. Born in Chulmleigh in the December Quarter of 1890. Died 13 March 1917 aged 26.
VODDEN, H
20802 Private Henry Vodden of the 9th Battalion, the Devonshire Regiment. Son of John Vodden of Coldicott, Morchard Bishop. Born in Woolfardisworthy in the June Quarter of 1893. Died 6 September 1916 aged 23. 
WEBBER, F
3/6816 Private Frederick Thomas Webber of the 9th Battalion, the Devonshire Regiment. Son of Richard and Mary Ann Webber. Born in Chulmleigh in the June Quarter of 1885. Died 6 September 1916 aged 31.
WILCOX, A

Chaplain the Rev. Alfred Wilcox of the Young Men's Christian Association. Husband of Ida Wilcox (née Buckingham) of Broadgate, Morchard Bishop (See Buckingham entry above). Died 18 August 1917 aged 29.

561836 Private Charles Albert Bennett of the 1st Battalion, the Devonshire Regiment. Son of William Henry and Martha Bennett (née Chapple). Born in Morchard Bishop in the March Quarter of 1914. Died 11 April 1944 aged 30.

5629140 Lance Corporal Herbert John Earle of the 2nd/6th Battalion, the Queen's Royal Regiment (West Surrey). Son of Ernest John and Alma Earle (née Stone) of Morchard Bishop. Born in Morchard Bishop in the March Quarter of 1923. Died 21 January 1944 aged 21.

749586 Sergeant (Observer) Stanley Walter Slade of the RAF Volunteer Reserve.  Son of Alfred and Annie Slade of Lapford. Born in Lapford in the March Quarter of 1916. Died 26 November 1940 aged 24. Buried in the churchyard of St. Mary, Morchard Bishop.
