A. W. WOOD
Others have tried - and failed - to solve the puzzle of the two men called Wood on this Memorial. I think this one might be Arthur William Wood who in 1901 lived with his wife and children at 9 Hampton Road, Newton Abbot. I think he may have been an ex regular soldier who joined up again when war started. He served as 69167 in the 21st London Regiment and was then transferred as 136429 in the Royal Army Medical Corps. His death on the battlefield has not yet been found.
W. G. WOOD
This man has been named before as W. G. Wood but my close-up photos look as if it should be W. C. Wood. However, in either case, neither man can be placed in the Devonshire Regiment.
