19149 Private Kingsley Mozart Cody of the 2nd Battalion, the Devonshire Regiment. Son of Edward and Anna Cody; husband of Mary Cody. Born in Norton, Worcs in July 1886. Died 1 July 1916 aged 30.

345767 Private Frederick William Ellis of the 16th Battalion, the Devonshire Regiment. Son of Edwin and Alice Ellis. Born in Dunsford in 1889. Died 3 December 1918 aged 28.

150107 Private Edwin Wilfred Ham of the 8th Battalion, the Canadian Infantry. Son of Herman and Emily Ham. Born in Newton Poppleford 8 January 1893. Died 14 June 1916 aged 23.

10438 Private Alfred Thomas Pring of the 8th Battalion, the Devonshire Regiment. Son of Emily and the late William Pring. Born in Newton Poppleford in 1898. Died 8 October 1915 aged 17.
E.RIDGEWAY
18701 Private Ernest Ridgeway of the 2nd Battalion, the Dewvonshire Regiment.  Nephew of Frederick and Rosina Ridgeway who seem to have  brought him up. Born in St Thomas, Exeter in 1887. Died 1 July 1916 aged 29.
F.ROBERTS
Greaser Frank Roberts of the Mercantile Marine, SS Empire Toucan (London). Son of George and Frances Roberts. Born in Newton Poppleford in 1884. Served as 177600 in the Army Service Corps in WW1; died on active service as a Merchant Seaman in WW2 on 29 June 1940 aged 56. Commemorated on the Tower Hill Merchant Navy Memorial.

S/15818 Staff Sergeant Dan Smale of the 50th Field Butchery Unit, The Royal Army Service Corps. Son of George and Sarah Ann Smale; brother of Charles (see below). Born in Newton Poppleford in 1877. Died 19 September 1915 aged 38.

41649 Private Frank White of the 7th/8th Battalion, the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers; formerly 51437 of the Devonshire Regiment. Born in Newton Poppleford in 1897. Died 16 August 1917 aged 20

239512 Air Mechanic 2nd Class Albert Retter of the Royal Flying Corps. Son of William and Rosina Retter; husband of Clarissa. Born in Harpford in 1885. Died at home of injuries received in service 7 February 1919 aged 35. Buried in Newton Poppleford Cemetery.
