One of the simplest war memorials in Devon, a small stone plaque on a wall in the church commemorates Romansleigh's only casualty of the 1914 - 1918 War.

Private Henry Gomer of the 8th Battalion, the  Devonshire Regiment. Son of Maria Gomer formerly of Romansleigh. Born in South Molton Workhouse in the September Quarter of 1896. Died of wounds 5 July 1916 aged 20.
