Lieutenant Eustace Newton Gerald Maton of  the Royal Navy, HMS Tipperary. Son of Leonard and Mary Maton. Born in Wimbledon in 1890. Died 1 June 1916 aged 26 at the Battle of Jutland.

162473 Stoker 1st Class William John Mutters of the Royal Navy, HMS Defence. Son of William and Elizabeth Mutter. Born in Beer 4 April 1875. Died 31 May 1916 aged 41 at the Battle of Jutland.
G. RUSSELL
196951 Able Seaman George Frederick Russell of the Royal Navy, HMS Defence. Son of George and Susan Russell; husband of Alice Maud (née Langmead). Born in Sidmouth 13 July 1882. Died 31 May 1916 aged 33 at the battle of Jutland.

Captain Charles Robert Forbes Hay-Webb of the 235th Brigade, the Royal Horse and Field Artillery.  Son of Charles and Lucy Hay-Webb, Born in Samastipur, India in 1895. Died 28 December 1916 aged 22. Also commemorated on the Broadclyst War Memorial.

Lieutenant Reginald William Harris of the 4th Battalion, the West Yorkshire regiment, attached to "Z" Coy, the 1st TM Battery. Son of William Henry Harris of Kyneton, Sidmouth, husband of Jessie Harris. Born in London in 1893. Died 3 September 1916 aged 23.

2nd Lieutenant Humphrey Porteous Cole of the 9th battalion, the Devonshire Regiment.  Son of Henrietta Cole of "Fairleigh", Sidmouth and the late Robert Cole. Born in Banstead, Surrey in 1895. Died 3 April 1916 aged 21.

Lieutenant Launcelot Adrian Hope of the 8th battalion, the East Yorkshire Regiment; also served with the Transvaal Scottish Regiment. Son of Launcelot and Florence Hope of South Africa. Born in York in the September Quarter of 1889. Died 13 November 1916 aged 27.

406616 Corporal Frank Tucker Russell of the 19th Battalion, the Canadian infantry ( Central Ontario Regiment). Son of Horatio Russell of Glen Isla terrace, Sidmouth and the late Jane Russell. Born in London in 1889. Died 10 August 1916 aged 34.

137453 Petty Officer James Agg of the Royal Navy. HMS Vanguard; formerly Boatman Agg of HM Coastguards. Husband of Rosa Agg. Born in bristol 2 August 1870. Died 9 July 1917 aged 47 when his ship was lost.

E. CARNELL

L9583 Officer's Steward Ernley Richard John Carnell of the Royal Navy, HMS Vivid (shore base). Son of Richard and  Emily Carnell. Born in Sidmouth 2 May 1899. Died of illness at home in the June Quarter of 1917 aged 18.

A. HORN

9511 DA Deck Hand Albert  Horn of the Royal Naval Reserve, HMS Ocean Star ( a hired drifter used as a patrol boat in the English Channell.). Parents not yet traced. Died 26 September 1917 when his ship was mined and lost with all hands.
