9634 Gunner (Alexander) Samuel Tucker ("Sam") of the Tavistock Battery. Son of John and Mary Jane Tucker; brother of William (see below). Born in Tavistock in the March Quarter of 1893. Died in an accident 13 January 1915 aged 22.
W.TUCKER
William Tucker is one of those rare accidents that sometimes do occur on war memorials - he did not die in the Great War but lived on until 1964.  He was discharged from the Canadian Infantry due to ill health in 1919 but decided to emigrate after this. and returned some years later only to pass unnoticed in the town. When he, died many years later, he was 78.
