Thanks to everyone who made contact - the response far exceeded anything we expected! Thanks too for the offers of help - all will be gratefully accepted and over the next few months we hope more and more family members will feel able to contribute articles, pictures, updates - anything that will be of interest. By the way, if you can add to information given here or think anything is incorrect, please let us know so our databases can be updated.

We've just heard that we've been given permission to pass on GRO numbers to family members from our very extensive collection. We're also going to be able to create a link to the General Register Office through STENTIFORD.ORG and by the end of this year, a direct on-line ordering service through this  link should be in place. This should make it very much easier for anyone who wishes to purchase birth, marriage or death certificates but especially those people living abroad or a long way from a look-up facility.

Let's hope the GRO Site works a bit better than that of the 1901 Census - like everyone else, we're so disappointed!
