For many years now, Jacky
Stentiford has been researching her husband's family - the Stentifords
of Kingskerswell - which every IGI reader must have spotted
references to. This month, the entire Issue is devoted to Jacky's highly enjoyable
account of family life in a small village during the first half of the 20th century. We
are very grateful to Jim Stentiford - Jacky's "living history"
source - for the time and assistance he gave in the preparation of this
article and for the loan of photos - and we've been very impressed by Jacky's
production of such an interesting Issue at her very first attempt at
writing.
During her research, Jacky discovered traces of another Stentiford
family in Kingskerswell - of special interest to descendents of the
Kingsteignton family we featured in Issues 12 and 17.

A second really nice thing happened this month. Readers may
remember in the introduction to our piece about Sir Ivan Stedeford in
Issue 35, we said we were sad we had not been able to find a single
photograph of such a distinguished man. We were so pleased, when out of
the blue, we were contacted by two of his descendents who sent us a
really good photo to publish - and here it is. |

We have plans to index, overhaul and re-publish
this entire website during this year, at which time this photo will be
placed in the context of the original article. Our thanks go to Sir
Ivan's grandsons. |
