1461210 Gunner Alfred Brimblecombe of 151 Battery, 51 Heavy Ack-Ack Regiment, the Royal Artillery. Son of Mrs. William Broughton of Chagford. Born in Chagford in the March Quarter of 1921. Died 2 June 1941 aged 20.
O. BECHGAARD

107285 Flight Lieutenant (Pilot) Ole Bechgaard of the RAF Volunteer Reserve, 604 Squadron. Son of Poul and Elisabeth Johanne Bechgaard. Born in Sweden in 1912. Died 7 October 1943 aged 31.

He was at the controls of a Beaufighter VI on a test flight over Catterick. At 14.50 on 7 October , the plane stalled and spun into the ground. All on board were killed. He is buried in the cemetery at Catterick. His link with Chagford is not known.

863587 Bombardier Robert William Hempton of No. 1 Airlanding Light Regiment, the Royal Artillery. Son of William and Rosanna; husband of Evelyn Mary Hempton of St. Thomas, Exeter. Born in 1916. Died 17 September 1944 aged 28.

1448902 Gunner Frank Hooper, of the Royal Artillery. Son of William and Lucy Hempton of Chagford; brother of Reginald (see below). Born in Chagford in the March Quarter of 1921. Died 2 Jun 1941 aged 20.

21760 D/JX Ordinary Seaman Reginald Hooper of the Royal Navy, HMS Eagle. Son of William and Lucy Hempton of Chagford; brother of Frank (see above). Born in Chagford in the December Quarter of 1914. Died 11 August 1942, aged 28.
