20764 Private William P. Babb of the 8th Battalion, the Devonshire Regiment. Son of William and Mary Ann Babb. Born in Clovelly in 1891. Died 4 October 1917 aged 27.
J.BEER

B/201888 Private Job Beer of the 1st/28th Battalion, the London Regiment (The Artist's Rifles). Husband of Sarah Beer of Clovelly. Born in Woolsery* in 1886. Died 29th March 1918 aged 32.

*The local name for Woolfardisworthy.

53474 Private James Bond of the Royal Army Medical Corps. Son of John and Emma Bond. Born in Hartland in 1894. Died 28th July 1915. Buried in All Saints Churchyard, Clovelly.
C.CALLAGHAN
45400 Sergeant Charles Callaghan of the Royal Horse Artillery and Royal Field Artillery. His parents are not known. He lived in Huddersfield and died 30 December 1917. He was awarded the Military Medal.

15721 Private Samuel P. Colwill of the 1st Battalion, the Devonshire Regiment. Son of Daniel and Elizabeth Colwill of Stoke, Hartland. Born in Hartland in 1889. Died 6 November 1917 aged 28.

20815 Private George Cook of the 9th Battalion, the Devonshire Regiment. Son of Thomas and Fanny Cook. Born in Hartland in 1890 and lived in Clovelly. Died 13 July 1916 aged 26.

Able Seaman i/c Lamps,  James T. Cruse of the Mercantile Marine SS Kilmaho of Cardiff. Son of Thomas and Catherine Cruse; husband of Caroline Cruse; brother of Thomas (see below). Born in Clovelly in 1885. Died 17 May 1917 aged 32.

Able Seaman Thomas William Cruse of the Mercantile Marine SS Kilmaho of Cardiff. Son of Thomas and Catherine Cruse; brother of James Cruse (See above) Born in Clovelly in 1891. Died 17 May 1917 aged 27.
S.B.HEADON
12/1416 Private Stanley Braund Headon of the Kings Own Light Infantry. Son of Minnie and the late Josiah. Born in Bucks Mills in the September Quarter of 1900. Discharged from the army as under age. After (unsuccessfully) trying to join the Navy, he joined the Mercantile Marine and served as a steward on board SS Kepwick Hall. He died when that ship sank off the United States 7 November 1918, aged 18.

11478 Acting Corporal, the Devonshire Regiment. Son of Thomas and Hannah Howard; husband of Martha Howard. Born in Bittadon in the September Quarter of 1868. Died 1 July 1916 aged 48.

102725 Private Harry Jewell of the 4th Battalion, the Machine Gun Infantry Corps. Son of Mary Jane Jewell. Born in 18i99. Died 24 April 1918 aged 19.
L.R.PENGILLY
37600 Air Mechanic 1st Class Llewellyn Richard Pengilly of the RAF. Son of Richard and Grace Pengilly; husband of Margaret Pengilly of HM Coastguard Station. Born in Clovelly in 1886. Died 31 October aged 33. Buried in Clovelly Churchyard.

Able Seaman Thomas S. Pengilly of the Mercantile Marine, SS Kilmalio (Cardiff). Son of Richard and Grace Pengilly; husband of Edith Pengilly; brother of Llewellyn (see above). Born in Clovelly in 1877. Died 17 May 1917 aged 40.

19867 Driver James H. Somerville of the 8th Brigade, the Australian Field Artillery. Son of James and Augusta Somerville of Clovelly. Born in 1893. Died 2 July 1916 aged 23.
W.STEVENS
4516 Lance Corporal William Stevens of the 109th Coy, the Machine Gun Infantry Corps. Son of William and the late Augusta Stevens of Clovelly. Born in 1893. Died 16 August 1917 aged 24.
F.TARDIVEL
279894 Petty Officer Stoker Frank (François) Tardivel RNVR formerly of the Coast Guard, serving on HMS Laurentic. Son of François and Ann Marie Tardivel. Born in St Peters, Jersey, CI on 16 June 1876. Died 25 January 1917 aged 41 when the Laurentic was lost. Buried in St Mura's Churchyard, Ireland.
W.A.B.TUKE
6384 Sergt. William Abraham Brenchley of the 2nd/4th City of Bristol Battalion, the Gloucestershire Regiment. Son of Harry and Eliza Tuke, Born in October 1894. Died 19 July 1916 in the UK aged 22.
