J AVERY
38042 Private John Avery of the 8th Battalion, the Devonshire Regiment. Son of William Avery of Boldventure and the late Mary Jane Avery; husband of Emily Avery of Eworthy, Germansweek. . Born in Broadwood Widger in the March Quarter of 1886. Died 27 October 1917 aged 31, 
A HILL
16195 Private Archibald ("Archie") Hill of the 2nd Battalion, the Devonshire Regiment. Son of Robert and Elizabeth Hill. Born in Germansweek in the December Quarter of 1897. Died 1 July 1916 aged 18.
S MAYNARD
28871 Lance Corporal Samuel Maynard of the 7th Battalion, the Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry. Son of John and Harriet Maynard of Rowden Farm, Germansweek. Born in Germansweek in the September Quarter of 1891. Died 16 August 1917 aged 26. 
DIED
E HAMLYN
784 Private Elias Hamlyn of the 4th Reserve Battalion (Territorials), the Devonshire Regiment. Son of George Edward and Eliza Hamlyn. Born in Germansweek in the December Quarter of 1899. Died at home 28 October 1918 aged 18.
W. WHITE

(Prisoner of War at Kut)

M2/223263 William White of the Army Service Corps. Son of John and Mary White; brother of Sidney (see below); husband of Violet Louise Danning (formerly White, née Herriott). Born in Germansweek in 1894. Died 15 November 1918 aged 25. Buried in Germansweek Churchyard.

Taken prisoner of war at Kut and never recovered from the treatment he received there. See William Lee's Diary.

S WHITE
William White (see above ) had a younger brother named Sidney John White. It is possible that he is the same young man who  died  on board the Naval training ship HMS Impregnable (anchored off Plymouth) and whose death was recorded in the June Quarter of 1917.
