MARIANSLEIGH PARISH REGISTER - BURIALS 1897 - 1916 |
Use the scroll bar to view the complete page
Over the centuries, this village has been known by a variety of names. In modern times, MARIANSLEIGH has had the widest use with MARY ANSLEIGH and MARLEY as alternatives. However, in the middle of the 19th century, a new Curate began to use the name "St. MARY ANSLEIGH" in the parish registers although this name never seems to have been in use other than in this context.
ALSWEAR and KEMP TOWN are hamlets within the parish. Notice how the spelling of Alswear changes to Alswere in the 1890s. |
