F.C.HILL MC
Lt-Commander  Frederick Charles Hill of the RNVR, serving on HMS Excellent Gunnery School, Portsmouth. Son of Godfrey and Elizabeth Hill. Born in Marldon in the September Quarter 1882. Died 2 August 1919 of illness aged 37. Buried in Marldon churchyard. Awarded the Military Cross.

26955 Private Samuel Albert Ball of "A" Coy, the 2nd Battalion, the Wiltshire Regiment. Son of Samuel and Alice Ball of Marldon; husband of Annie Ball of Torquay. Born in Ashcombe,Devon, in 1885. Died 21 March 1918 aged 33.

14072 Sergeant Herbert William Elkanah Hill of the 2nd Battalion, the Devonshire Regiment. Son of William and Jane Hill. Born in Dartington, Totnes, in the March Quarter of 1894. Died 27 September 1918 aged 24.

PLY 16568 Private Walter Ashford of the Royal Marine Light Infantry, served on HMS Snaefell. Son of Robert and Elizabeth Langworthy of Galmpton, Brixham. Born in Marldon 27 April 1893. Died 5 June 1918 aged 25.
J.LIDSTONE
155341 Chief Stoker John Lidstone of the Royal Navy, HMS Warrior. Son of Robert and Ann Lidstone of Marldon; husband of Boadicea Lidstone (née Basher) of Cornwall. Born in Marldon 5 March 1875. Died 31 May 1916 aged 41 at the Battle of Jutland.

3129 Sergeant William Low of No 2 Depot, the Royal Garrison Artillery. Son of Thomas and Louisa Low. Born in Compton, Marldon in 1872. Died 21 February 1916 at home aged 43. Buried in Marldon Churchyard.
J.RENDELL
14514 Private (William) James Rendell of the 8th Battalion, the Devonshire Regiment. Son of the late Florence Rendell; brought up by his grandparents Mary Ann  and the late James  Rendell. Born in Stonehouse in 1894. Died in the UK 6 August 1916 at home aged 22.

K32189 Stoker 1st Class Stanley James Isaiah Westaway of the Royal Navy, HMS Vivid. Son of George and the late Eliza Westaway; brother of Albert (see below). Born in Marldon in the September Quarter of 1898. Died 8 April 1918 aged 19. Buried in Marldon churchyard.

84231 Private (Ernest) Albert Edward Westaway of the 21st Battalion, the Machine Gun Corps Infantry; formerly 46814 of the Devonshire Regiment. Son of George and the late Eliza Westaway; brother of Stanley (see above) husband of Lily of Upton, Torquay. Born in Marldon in the December Quarter of 1887. Died 8 October 1918 aged 31.

202670 Private Charles Stanley Wills. Son of Albert and Susan Wills. Born in Marldon in 1898. Died 26 October 1917 aged 19.
W.WILLS
176012 Stoker 1st Class William Wills of the Royal Navy, HMS Vivid. Son of Albert Edward Wills of Compton, Marldon,  and the late Susan Wills. Born in Marldon 14 May 1871. Died 31 January 1921 aged 49. (His death certificate was issued in Devonport) which suggests he died in hospital there - it also gives  his age as 36!)
R. MUIR MACKENZIE
Lt Sir Robert Cecil Muir Mackenzie of the 5th Battalion, the Durham Light Infantry; attached to the 9th Battalion. Son of Lt/Col. R.S.M. MacKenzie of Marldon House, Paignton; husband of Kate MacKenzie. Born  17 October 1891. Died 12 April 1918 aged 26.
