32199 Lance Corporal William John Beer of the 18th Battalion, the Lancashire Fusiliers; formerly 3234, the Royal Engineers. Son of Samuel and Susan Beer. Born in Crediton in 1884. Died 22 October 1917 aged 33.

14671 Private William Bennett of the 7th Battalion, the Bedfordshire Regiment. Son of William and Mary Ann Bennett. Born in Thelbridge in 1891, but lived in Shobrooke. Died 27 September 1916 aged 25.

3836 Private Joseph ("Joe") Brealy of the 1st/4th Battalion, the Devonshire Regiment. Son of Joseph and Sarah Brealy. Born in Zeal Monachorum in 1877. Died at home 10 January 1916 aged 39. Buried in St Swithin's churchyard.

Sub-Lieutenant Ronald Worthington Jukes of the RNVR, HMS Collingwood, attached to the Royal Naval Division. Son of the Rev. Worthington Jukes and his wife Susanna formerly of Shobrooke Rectory. Born in Shropshire in 1893. Died 4 June 1915 aged 22.

9998 Private Albert Lott of the 9th Battalion, the Devonshire Regiment. Son of George and Eda Lott. Born in Shobrooke in the Sdeptember Quarter of 1898. Died 2 April 1917 aged 18.

42649 Private John Henry Slade of the 8th Battalion, the Royal Scots. Son of Francis and Emily Slade. Born in Shobrooke in 1896. Died 12 April 1918 aged 21.

RMA 12869. Royal Marine Gunner William John Small of the Royal Marine Artillery, serving on HMS Aboukur. Son of John and Sarah Ann Snell. Born in Shobrooke in the March Quarter of 1895. Died 22 September 1914 aged 20.

38611 Private Francis Victor Sydenham of "D" Coy, 5th Battalion, the Royal Berkshire Regiment. Son of Charles and Edith of Honiton Clyst. Born  in Skilgate, Somerset in 1898. Died 16 October 1918 aged 20.
E.J.WHALE
L 2947 Edwin John Whale served in a domestic capacity in the Royal Navy, possibly as a steward - as indicated by his number. He named his brother Francis who farmed in Beaworthy as his next of kin and was the son of the late Mary Jane and John Whale of Launceston, Cornwall where he was born  in 1882. No other details of him have yet been found.
