The Smerdons were one of the oldest of the Dartmoor families. Their descendents are still there.

Horebrigge = Horrabridge

Peterystavy = Peter Tavy, a Dartmoor parish in the Roborough Hundred

Husbandman = A farmer

Bocland = Buckland Monachorum

Before the calendar was reformed, this is how the year was designated - in this instance, the fourth year of the reign of King Edward IV i.e. 1464.
