J.DAVEY

It is almost impossible to give an absolute verification to either of the following entries:

We think this man was a sailor:

226138 Able Seaman Ernest John Davey of the Royal Navy. He was born in Tavistock   16 December 1887, the son of Robert and Louisa Davey. He joined the Navy as a boy and served most of his first, long contract in the far east so that he  and Tavistock lost contact with one another. He did not die in the war but may have come back to the town as a naval pensioner after the War. His death is recorded as having been in the December Quarter of 1935 aged 47. We think it possible that he married in Plymouth shortly before his death using the name "John Ernest Davey".
